Research
This award-winning study* was undertaken in a high school classroom that utilized collaborative project-based learning. I utilized mixed methods to examine how a collaboration level was determined in a project-based collaborative learning environment, where collaboration was one of the learning outcomes.
In this study I have conducted the followings:
- Synthesized literature on intragroup conflicts and collaboration
- Designed the study based on the conceptual framework created by the literature review
- Collected data through online surveys and in-depth interviews
- Analyzed qualitative data searching for emerging themes
- Utilized the multi-level structural equation modeling approach

*This study received the 2011 AECT Young Researcher Award.
This award-winning* national survey project aims at 1) identifying K-12 schools in the United States that have successfully adopted the learner-centered paradigm, 2) systematically investigating their learner-centered teaching practices, school system structure, and uses of technology, and 3) examining the relationship between the learner-centered paradigm and students’ academic achievement in such schools.

In this study, I have conducted the followings:
- Synthesized literature on learner-centered paradigm
- Designed the survey study
- Designed and developed online survey instruments
- Conducted pilot tests and expert reviews
- Identified the target population and the frame population
- Wrote a grant proposal to be submitted to the Spencer Foundation

* This project recieved the 2012 IST Kemp Award.

This national study utilized U.S. 8th grade mathematics assessment results from the 2007 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study. I examined what instructional strategies have been utilized to teach mathematics to 8th grade students in the U.S. and their effects on student academic achievement.

In this study, I have conducted the followings:
- Synthesized literature on instructional strategies
- Designed the study
- Utilized a large set of secondary data
- Checked on assumptions of the data analysis method
- Analyzed the data using the multi-level modeling approach
Requested by the Korean Ministry of Education and Labor, the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training has been conducting a project* to promote and support corporate training programs with mobile devices. As part of the project, I am in charge of searching for exemplary mobile learning cases around the globe and synthesizing them.

In this study, I have conducted the followings:
- Identified literature based on selection criteria
- Synthesized the literature
- Drew implications based on the synthesis of literature

* The report of this project is written in Korean.
